Basava awards presented to Kanavi and Kasturi by Sadananda Gowda
Bangalore: The Basava Vedike’s ‘Basavashri’ award was presented to, Kannada poet Channaveera Kanavi for 2012, and ‘Vachana Sahitya Sri’ award for 2012 was givin to singer Kasturi Shankar, by CM .D.V Sadananda Gowda in Bangalore on May’ Tuesday. Kasturi has completed 50 years of singing career this year.
CM Sadananda Gowda and ex-CM Yeddyurrapa were distinguished personalities participating in this function.
Yeddy did not lose the chance to present his case before local intellectuals, and tell them why he has ousted from his chair as CM.
Yeddy recited lines from a Lingayat religious teacher, to show the depth of his agony in being jailed without proper evidence of guilt.
He asked intellectuals of the day to give their opinions after the high court and Supreme Court had given their verdict on the cases, in which he is main accused.
He would expose the conspirators later, be kept saying. Yeddy was kept waiting for an hour by CM, but he left immediately after his speech, when CM arrived.
The two did not exchange words or looks. While Yeddy had quoted AkkaMahadevi, CM quoted poet laureate GS. Shivarudrappa to say that one should not be blinded by one’s ego, in reference to ex-CM.
One has to be humane in dealings with others, while working for development projects, CM added. He presented the awards to 2 winners, while Basavaraj Bommai garlanded Suttur Math Swamiji. Culture minister Govind Karajol was present.
