20 lakh fishermen to get biometric cards by June

Mangaluru: Authorities should expedite the process of issuing biometric cards and the registration of fishermen, said Ashok Kumar Angurana, Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. “The biometric cards should be issued to each of the 20 lakh fishermen in the country by June this year,” he instructed.
