Mangalore : DC Subodh Yadav in the press meet held at the court hall on Dec 30, Thursday said that altogether 215 candidates had filed the nomination for Zilla Panchayath election and 575 for Taluk Panchayath election and after verification only 188 for ZP election and 533 for TP election.
He also said that, after the withdrawal procedure of the nomination, there are only 116 candidates contesting in the ZP election and 374 candidates in TP election contesting in Mangalore, Bantwal, Belthangady, Puttur and Sullia.
Mangalore has a total of 1027 polling booths. Around 6780 staffs appointed for the election and 1130 presiding officers and 4520 assistant presiding officers and 1130 other officers. Out of 1027 polling booths, 109 polling booths have been identified as hyper sensitive and 133 have been identified as sensitive. There are total of 133 sector officer for the election.
Around 63 private busses, 95 KSTRC busses, 63 vans and 202 jeeps will be used for the election purpose. There are total of 97 vehicles used for security. There will around 242 video cameras to be implemented to record the visual clipping in case of any incident to be taken place during election.
The polling officers in each polling booths will be given medical kit for emergency with the medicines and instruction for any illness. The kit will also comprise of medical officers number for emergency. Ambulance facility will also be given to the mustering officers.
There will be information centre in the booths, where there will be more than one polling booth in a building to help the voters.
Additional commissioner Prabhakar Sharma was also present.
