Mangaluru : Minister for School Education and Literacy Madhu Bangarappa said on Monday that the government will soon begin the process of recruiting over 18,000 teachers for government and government-aided private schools.
Talking to reporters at the district Congress office in Mangaluru on Monday, Mr. Bangarappa said 13,000 new teachers will be recruited for government schools, while 5,800 will be taken for aided schools.
Applicants should have cleared the Teachers’ Entrance Test. It has been planned to finish the recruitment by the 2026-27 academic year.
The Minister said notebooks will be provided to students in government schools from the 2026-27 academic year. A budgetary provision will be made for the same.
Following successful operation of 80% of the 308 Karnataka Pubic Schools, where quality education till class 12 was being provided at affordable cost, the State Cabinet has given approval for setting up of 800 more KPS schools, he said.
While defending the action of the Dakshina Kannada and the Udupi district administrations to initiate disciplinary proceedings against teachers not attending the Social and Educational survey work, the Minister said: “If the action is found to be needless then we will certainly not act against the concerned. They are our teachers, we will certainly protect them.”
More than 95% of teachers have wholesomely participated in the survey, he said.
