Mangaluru : Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangaluru, delivered an outstanding athletic performance by securing the Women’s Championship title and emerging as the Men’s Runners-Up at the 28th VTU State Level Inter-Collegiate Cross Country Championship. Held on September 7 and 8, 2026, at the VTU Regional Centre in Mysuru, the prestigious sporting event brought together over 228 top student-athletes representing various affiliated institutions across Karnataka under Visvesvaraya Technological University.
The women’s squad dominated the podium, achieving a clean sweep of individual medals alongside their overall team victory. Ms. Veeksha V clinched the Gold Medal, Ms. Saniya Shetty earned the Silver Medal, and Ms. Vaishnavi Padasalagi secured the Bronze Medal. The championship-winning women’s contingent also featured crucial contributions from teammates Sahithya K. P., Thrisha Shetty, and Shreya Mohan Naik, whose collective effort propelled the team to the top rank.
In the men’s category, the Sahyadri team displayed extraordinary endurance to bag the overall Runner-Up trophy against competitive opponents. The successful men’s squad comprised athletes Manvith U, Adithya K. S., Pravith, Guruprasad, Pradyun, and Prajwal. Following their triumphant campaign, the college management, Principal, faculty members, and the Department of Physical Education & Sports extended their heartfelt congratulations to both teams for bringing immense pride and glory to the institution.
