Belthangady : In a strict disciplinary move, the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Services has placed Chandrashekhar, a pharmacy officer at the Belthangady Taluk Government Hospital, under immediate suspension. The action was initiated following a formal sexual harassment complaint lodged against him on June 11 by a female contract employee working at the same medical facility.
Upon receiving the grievance, the hospital’s Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) conducted a thorough inquiry into the matter. Following their review, the District Health and Family Welfare Officer formally requested the higher authorities to institute legal and disciplinary action against the accused officer. A meticulous evaluation of the submitted case files, the police First Information Report (FIR), and written statements from eyewitnesses strongly indicated that the allegations against Chandrashekhar were prima facie true, despite the complainant’s absence during a specific stage of the investigation.
The administrative probe concluded that Chandrashekhar’s behavior constituted a grave violation of Rules 3(1), 3(2), and 3(3) of the Karnataka Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 2021. His actions were deemed entirely unbecoming of a government servant, showcasing severe misconduct, professional indiscipline, and complete negligence of official duties. Consequently, the authorities decided to suspend him from public service pending a comprehensive departmental inquiry.
The official suspension order was issued by Dr. Rajani M., Director of the Department of Health and Family Welfare Services. The directive explicitly states that the accused pharmacy officer is barred from leaving his designated headquarters during the suspension period without obtaining prior written permission from the competent sanctioning authority.
