Mangaluru : In accordance with directives issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) has instructed all government bodies, private organizations, and the general public to refrain from using plastic National Flags during upcoming national, cultural, and sports events. Citing the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, and the Flag Code of India, 2002 (amended in 2021 and 2022), environmental officials strictly advised using paper or cloth flags mounted on paper or wooden sticks instead of plastic flags or plastic sticks.
Furthermore, ahead of the Independence Day celebrations, the Environmental Officer emphasized a total ban on single-use plastic materials. This includes plastic carry bags, banners, bunting, flex, plastic plates, cups, spoons, straws, cling films, plastic dining sheets, as well as thermocol products and plastic microbeads. The public and event organizers are urged to strictly comply with these eco-friendly guidelines to ensure environmental protection while honoring national traditions.
