Puttur : A horrific road accident on Wednesday morning along the Bengaluru–Mangaluru National Highway 75 at Periyashanthi in Kokradi village resulted in the instantaneous death of a motorcyclist and left another rider with life-threatening injuries. The individual who tragically lost his life at the scene has been identified as 33-year-old Rijesh V, a resident of Erikkulam in Kerala’s Kasaragod district. The other rider, who survived the crash with severe injuries, has been identified as Girish, hailing from Halingeri in Kokkada village.
The fatal chain of events unfolded when Girish was riding his motorcycle from Gundya towards Kokkada. As he reached near Periyashanthi and attempted to maneuver his vehicle to turn towards Kokkada, another speeding motorcycle coming from behind rammed into his bike with immense force. Rijesh, who was riding the trailing motorcycle from Bengaluru toward Mangaluru, was violently thrown onto the asphalt due to the massive impact and died on the spot from fatal injuries before any medical help could arrive.
Girish, who sustained grievous injuries in the crash, was promptly aided by alert passers-by and local residents who rushed to the rescue. Following the administration of emergency first aid at the spot, he was urgently shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru for specialized medical treatment. Meanwhile, the mortal remains of Rijesh were transported to the Government Hospital in Puttur for post-mortem examination and further legal formalities. Law enforcement personnel from the Nelyadi police outpost arrived at the crash site shortly after, conducted a thorough scene inspection, and registered an official case regarding the incident. A detailed police investigation is currently underway to determine the exact circumstances that led to this fatal collision.
