Mangaluru : The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Bengaluru, in collaboration with Canara Bank Circle Office, Mangaluru, successfully organized the District Level Currency Management Committee (DLCMC) Meeting and Awareness Session on Currency Management at Netravathi Hall, Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Office, Kottara, Mangaluru, on Friday, October 9, 2026. The event focused on ensuring effective currency management and strictly implementing RBI’s Clean Note Policy across the region.
The meeting was presided over by Sanjay Kumar, General Manager, Reserve Bank of India, Bengaluru, alongside Sam Varghese IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Mangaluru. Key officials addressing the gathering included Tripta Roy, AGM, RBI; Avinash, Manager, RBI; Manjunath B Singai, General Manager and Circle Head, Canara Bank Mangaluru; H T Baviskar, General Manager, Canara Bank CMS HO Annex Manipal; Rajesh Khanna, General Manager, Bank of Baroda; and Satyam Paluguna, General Manager, Union Bank of India. The dignitaries highlighted critical operational aspects concerning streamlined currency management, detection of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN), and efficient cash-handling procedures.
During the interactive technical sessions, RBI officials provided detailed deliberations on key currency management subjects, including the distinct security features of Indian banknotes, methods for identifying counterfeit notes, note exchange facilities, and the Note Refund Rules along with adjudication of banknotes. The session facilitated an constructive dialogue among RBI representatives, banking professionals, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders to strengthen regulatory adherence and spread public awareness. The event was smoothly coordinated by Canara Bank Circle Office, Mangaluru, with support from the Cash Management Vertical, HO Annex Manipal.
