Mangaluru : During an interaction with the media at Mangaluru International Airport, Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar highlighted that convening the Cabinet meeting in Mangaluru is a strategic step toward accelerating progress across the coastal and Malnad regions, known for their educated and dynamic populace. He noted that local legislators and MPs met him to submit key representations regarding regional issues and development demands. Emphasizing that these priorities remain at the forefront of the government’s agenda, he assured that every effort would be made during the Cabinet session to fulfill as many legitimate demands as possible for the region’s overall progress.
Addressing the Kasturirangan report on the Western Ghats and the prevailing drought situation, the Chief Minister announced that a special two-day legislative session has been convened to thoroughly deliberate on these matters. He stated that elected representatives will be given full opportunity to air their views, while the Environment and Forest Minister will submit a comprehensive report. Furthermore, Shivakumar assured that he would interact directly with the communities affected by the Kasturirangan recommendations to gather their feedback firsthand before taking further action.
