Hebri: Udupi DC Dr. Vidya Kumari visited Chinmayi shetty house in Indira Nagar who was killed in a stampede at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru during RCB’s IPL cup win celebrations. DC handed over the Rs 25 lakh compensation cheque given by the state government to Chinmayi Shetty’s parents.
Expressing her condolences to Chinmayi Shetty’s parents, the DC said that the district administration is always with her family. They can contact us for any problem. The DC who spoke to Chinmayi Shetty’s parents, brothers and sisters, hugged her mother and got emotional saying that we are always with you.
Udupi District Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar, A.C. Rashmi, Hebri, Tehsildar Prasad S. A., Hebri Police Station Officer Mahesh T., Hebri Taluk Guarantee Committee President Shankar Serigar, Chinmay’s mother Shanta Shetty, brother and their family were present.
Chinmay, who is the daughter of Hebri Shanta Shetty and Uppinangady Karunakar Shetty, was studying BE at Jyothi Engineering College on Kanakapura Road in Bengaluru. She had gone to the Chinnaswamy Stadium with her college friends for RCB celebrations on June 4. Chinmay Shetty was a victim of the stampede that occurred during this time.
