Mangaluru: The Mangaluru transport department officials on Thursday seized two private buses that were operating without paying road tax.
One of the buses, which was plying from Kundapur to Bengaluru via Mangaluru, was stopped for inspection near Kottarachowki. During the check, officials discovered that the bus had not paid road tax since November, said Mangaluru RTO Sridhar Mallad.
He further stated that the department has been conducting a special drive over the past few days targeting buses operating in violation of rules. As part of the drive, four buses have already been seized.
