Udupi : Three fishermen went missing after their boat allegedly capsized in the sea at Gangolli in Udupi district on Tuesday.
Minister in charge of Udupi district, Lakshmi Hebbalkar, in a statement, said that she has instructed the Coastal Security Police to launch a search operation. Fishermen should not venture out when the sea is rough, the Minister said.
The Minister said that the compensation amount had been hiked from the earlier Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.
Mr. Vaidya said that he was appealing to fishermen not to venture into the sea during rough tides.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) weather forecast, said on Tuesday that heavy to very heavy rain with sustained winds (30-40 kmph) is likely to occur at a few places over Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada and Udupi districts on Wednesday.
