
Mangaluru : Dakshina Kannada District In-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao hoisted the national flag and addressing the gathering at the 79th Independence Day celebrations held at Nehru Maidan .
Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, who assumed office as the country’s first Prime Minister amidst many challenges, wrote a great preface to the development of this country. By establishing the Planning Commission, he took a bold step to complete the all-round development of the country within the stipulated time frame. Successive governments have continued this vision and today India stands tall in the world.
As citizens of the country, let us all work together to create an atmosphere of friendship and harmony and maintain the unity and solidarity of the country under the principle of “Equality for all,” and to build a strong nation.
The state government has taken a bold step on the path of all-round progress of Karnataka. Our government’s guarantee schemes have created a new history in the implementation of welfare programs of post-independence India.
Our Dakshina Kannada has a recognizable uniqueness in many fields including education, medicine, tourism, and religion. It is a matter of pride that the district has also contributed maximum in the freedom movement.
We can proudly say that “Even the waves that reach the coast tell the story of freedom” is ours. The government has been responding to the development of Dakshina Kannada district.
5 guarantee schemes have received an unprecedented response from Dakshina Kannada district. Under the Grihalakshmi scheme, 3.79 lakh women in the district A total of Rs. 1377 crore has been sanctioned so far. Under the Annabhagya Yojana, 11.76 lakh beneficiaries are receiving benefits, under the Griha Jyoti Yojana, 5.51 lakh beneficiaries are receiving benefits, with 98 percent progress being made, and the state government has paid an amount of Rs. 789 crore.
The celebrations featured disciplined marches by police contingents, armed reserve forces, KSRP, NCC, Scouts and Guides, and students of the Bharat Seva Dal.
MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta, MLA Vedavyas Kamath, MLC Ivan D’Souza, former MLA Harish Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Darshan H.V., City Police Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Reddy, IGP Amit Singh, SP Dr. Arun Kumar, and Zilla Panchayat CEO Vinayak Naravade were present.
