Bengaluru : Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar today lashed out at the BJP leaders for dividing people and fuelling communal tension.
Speaking to reporters at his Sadashivanagar residence, he said, “The CM, Home minister and district in charge minister have spoken about the incident in Madduru. I don’t have any more information on this as I was travelling.” He was replying to a question on stone pelting incident during Ganesha immersion in Madduru and the subsequent visits of BJP leaders.
“The BJP is not bothered about development. They are interested only in politics. Let them get clearances for pending irrigation projects in the state and also get funds for stalled projects in the state,” he added.
Asked about the meeting with MLAs from Bengaluru city, he said, “The meeting scheduled for Tuesday was postponed due to my travel to Coimbatore. It will be held Wednesday evening.”
Asked about appointment of in-charge ministers for five corporations under Greater Bengaluru Authority, he said, “Ministers are not meant to be focussing only on their constituency, they must focus on the entire district. We have given responsibilities to the ministers in some of the constituencies as our candidates had lost election. We will also give party responsibilities for them.”
Replying to a question on the arrest of Congress MLA Sathish Sail, he said, “There was no need for his arrest. The investigation in this case has been going on from 2010. Only Congress MLAs are being targeted by the investigative agencies.”
“Jawahar Bal Manch is sending 24 children to the national camp and I am personally footing the expenses for the trip. I would like to wish them the best at the camp,” he said.
