Belthangady : The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has sharply intensified its investigation into the volatile Dharmasthala mass burials case. In a critical move on Monday, the SIT interrogated two key figures connected to the arrested complainant-witness, Chinnayya: his second wife, Mallika, and his sister, Ratna. They were summoned to the SIT office in Belthangady and subjected to intense questioning.
Investigators are determined to unravel the truth behind Chinnayya’s contradictory testimony. A primary objective was to extract crucial information, including the trail of Chinnayya’s financial transactions, which could reveal the motives and backers behind the shocking mass burial claims.
Sources close to the probe indicated that the focus also centered on allegations by Sowjanya Movement activists that Mallika was present when Chinnayya met with activist Mahesh Shetty Thimarody. Video statements Chinnayya made during this visit surfaced publicly, but these dramatically clashed with the sworn testimony he later gave in court.
The interrogation of Mallika and Ratna is seen as a relentless effort by the SIT to pierce through the layers of deceit and conspiracy that have plagued this controversial case. Every statement they gave was reportedly scrutinized to reconcile the stark contradictions surrounding Chinnayya’s version of events.
