Manipal : The T.A. Pai Management Institute (TAPMI), Manipal, recently concluded its flagship community engagement initiatives, ‘SEVA Jatre’ and ‘SAMVRIDDHI 2025–26’, held between January 23rd and 26th. These programs aimed to foster ‘sustainable change’ across the Udupi-Manipal region by bridging the gap between ‘management education’ and grassroots social needs. By collaborating with artisans, ‘self-help groups’, and NGOs, MBA students applied professional frameworks to solve practical challenges such as ‘market access’ for farmers, waste management, and digital integration for micro-businesses. The event saw active participation from approximately 1,000 students and prominent social enterprises like ‘SELCO’ and ‘Sutradhar Social Ventures’.
A significant focus of ‘SAMVRIDDHI 2025–26’ was building capacity through ‘social entrepreneurship’ and health advocacy. Nearly 50 local entrepreneurs underwent training in ‘solar micro-entrepreneurship’, while 60 rural women were provided with ‘sustainable menstrual hygiene kits’ to promote health and dignity. Supported by the ‘TAPMI Alumni Association’, these efforts showcased a strong commitment to ‘nation building’ and ethical responsibility. The initiatives were meticulously coordinated by the faculty of the ‘Centre for Sustainability and Competitiveness’, ensuring that the solutions provided were both practical and long-lasting for the local vendors and residents involved.
The event also featured a high-level panel discussion on how business schools can contribute to ‘scalable social impact’. Experts from the ‘National Cooperative Union of India’ and various social startups discussed the necessity of ‘long-term academic partnerships’ to drive societal growth. Dr. Durga Prasad, Director-in-Charge, emphasized that such projects help students develop ‘empathy and accountability’, transforming them into ‘responsible business leaders’. By integrating ‘experiential learning’ with community relevance, TAPMI continues to strengthen its role as a key partner in ‘regional development’ and a pioneer in ‘responsible management education’.
