Hyderabad : Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) secured a commanding 47-run victory against Delhi Capitals (DC) in today’s high-scoring IPL encounter at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. Batting first, the home side set a massive target of 243 runs. In response, Delhi Capitals struggled to keep up with the steep required run rate and were restricted to 195 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs. This victory has significantly boosted Hyderabad’s standing in the tournament, showcasing their balanced strength in both departments.
The chase for Delhi Capitals saw some spirited performances, but a lack of substantial partnerships proved costly. Nitish Rana led the charge with a well-made 57, supported by Sameer Rizvi’s 41 and KL Rahul’s 37. However, with Tristan Stubbs contributing only 27 and Pathum Nissanka falling early for 8, the team collapsed under the pressure of the scoreboard. Hyderabad’s bowling attack was led by Ishan Malinga, who delivered a stellar performance taking 4 wickets, while Harsh Dubey chipped in with 3 crucial scalps. Madushanka and Shakib Al Hasan also claimed a wicket each to seal the win.
The standout performer of the match was Abhishek Sharma, whose spectacular unbeaten 135 runs laid the foundation for Hyderabad’s mammoth total, earning him the ‘Player of the Match’ honors. With this win, Sunrisers Hyderabad has climbed to the 3rd spot in the IPL points table, having won four out of seven matches with a healthy net run rate of +0.820. On the other hand, Delhi Capitals have slipped to 5th place following their second consecutive loss, currently holding 6 points from six matches with a net run rate of -0.130.
