Fr Rupesh Madtha as the new Priest Public Relations Officer (PRO). The appointment was officially announced by the Bishop of Mangalore, Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, and is set to take effect from June 1, 2026. As per the administrative structure of the Diocese, the public relations office is jointly managed by two representatives—one from the clergy and one from the laity. Fr Madtha will succeed Rev. Dr J.B. Saldanha, who has completed a distinguished five-year tenure, and will work alongside the current Lay PRO, Mr. Roy Castelino.

He serves as the Manager and Editor of the ‘Raknno’ Konkani weekly, where he oversees the official media voice of the community. Additionally, he leads the Diocesan Ecumenical and Interreligious Dialogue Commissions as their Convenor, fostering unity among Christian denominations and promoting peaceful coexistence with other faiths. His leadership also extends to his roles as the Secretary of the Mangalore Christian Council and the Treasurer of the All Karnataka United Christian Forum for Human Rights (Western Zone).
In his upcoming role as the Priest PRO, Fr Madtha will be responsible for maintaining active liaison with media houses, government officials, and ministers to address issues concerning the Diocese. His mandate includes organizing press conferences and issuing official statements to ensure the Church’s stance is communicated clearly, countering any misinformation or prejudice. The Diocese expressed its deep gratitude to the outgoing PRO, Rev. Dr J.B. Saldanha, for his dedicated years of service while expressing full confidence that Fr Madtha’s extensive experience in media and interfaith relations will lead the office to new heights.
