Mangaluru : The Srinivas University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Mukka, in collaboration with the IEEE Bangalore and Mangalore subsections, inaugurated the International Conference on “Emerging Converging Science and Technology” (ICESST 2026) at Hotel Srinivas in Mangaluru. The event was officially opened by the Chief Guest, Padma Shri awardee and former ISRO Chairman Shri A. S. Kiran Kumar, who lit the ceremonial lamp in the presence of Dr. A. Srinivas Rao, Pro-Chancellor of Srinivas University, who presided over the function. Other dignitaries included Dr. Venugopala P. S., Chairman of the IEEE Mangalore Subsection, and Dr. K. Satyanarayana Reddy, Vice-Chancellor of Srinivas University.
The conference received a massive response with 509 research papers submitted across multidisciplinary fields such as Computer Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, and Basic Sciences. Out of these, 152 high-quality papers were selected for presentation by experts, researchers, and students from various parts of India and abroad during the two-day event. Principal and General Chair Dr. Ramakrishna N. Hegde detailed the year-long preparation for the conference and acknowledged the guidance of the university’s Founder Chancellor, Dr. CA A. Raghavendra Rao.
In his keynote address, Shri A. S. Kiran Kumar emphasized the rapid transformation of the world through science and technology, noting that India is among the few nations capable of building its own rockets and satellites. He highlighted the country’s progress toward becoming a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047 and urged students to use their intellectual capacity to solve global problems and improve the living standards of others. Dr. K. Satyanarayana Reddy further encouraged students to adopt a Gurukul-style approach to innovation by identifying social problems and developing practical products to address them.
Pro-Chancellor Dr. A. Srinivas Rao remarked on the mandatory nature of change in the digital era, noting how information is now accessible at one’s fingertips. He stressed the importance of skill-based practical training and invited Shri Kiran Kumar to continue mentoring the university’s faculty and students. The event also saw the release of the official Conference Proceedings book. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Praveen B. M., Director of the Research Wing, following a formal introduction of the guests by Dr. Sandhya Shenoy.
