Chikkamagaluru : D.N. Jeevaraj has officially taken the oath as the newly elected MLA of the Sringeri constituency. The oath was administered by the Legislative Assembly Speaker, U.T. Khader. The ceremony was attended by several prominent political figures, including the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, R. Ashoka, the Leader of the Opposition in the Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, and MLA Muniraju.
Jeevaraj took his oath in the name of God and the deity Sringeri Sharadambe. Following the formal swearing-in, Speaker Khader congratulated the new BJP legislator by presenting him with a floral bouquet and a book containing the rules and procedures of the Legislative Assembly.
This political transition follows a significant legal battle regarding the Sringeri assembly election results. Initially, Jeevaraj had challenged the election of Congress MLA Rajegowda in court. Following a judicial order, a recount of the postal ballots was conducted, which resulted in a majority for Jeevaraj. Subsequently, election officials issued him the winning certificate, leading to today’s official induction.
