Mangaluru : The Ullal police have successfully apprehended a man who had been evading the law for the past 14 years. The accused, identified as Mohammed Samsheer, a resident of Mukkacheri, Ullal, was wanted in connection with a narcotics case registered in 2011. The case, under Sections 8(c)(ii) and 20(b) of the NDPS Act, was pending before the JMFC II Court. Since the time of the incident, Samsheer had remained untraceable, leading the court to issue a Long Pending Case (LPC) warrant against him.
Acting on specific intelligence, the police team tracked down the accused to an apartment near the Thoyyib Mosque in Mukkacheri, Ullal. He was found hiding in Room No. 07 of the building and was immediately taken into custody. Despite his efforts to remain underground for over a decade, the persistent efforts of the local police finally led to his arrest 14 years after the crime was first reported.
