Bengaluru : Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, H.D. Kumaraswamy, has embarked on a spiritual pilgrimage to the holy shrine of Sabarimala. Early this morning, the minister visited the Sri Subramanya Swamy Temple in Cochin, where he offered special prayers and donned the sacred ‘Ayyappa Mala’ to initiate his vows. Following the rituals, he carried the traditional ‘Irumudi Kettu’ (sacred offering bag) on his head from the temple premises before setting out on the journey toward the hill shrine.
According to his itinerary, the Union Minister is scheduled to reach the banks of the holy Pampa River by afternoon. After taking a ritualistic holy dip in the river, he will begin his trek up the hills toward the Sabarimala temple. In the evening, Kumaraswamy will participate in the auspicious ‘Padi Pooja’ at the Ayyappa Sannidhanam, followed by the sacred ‘Pushpabhishekam’ (flower abhisheka) ritual dedicated to Lord Ayyappa.
This marks Kumaraswamy’s maiden pilgrimage to Sabarimala since assuming charge as a Union Minister in the central cabinet. Notably, the veteran leader is an ardent devotee of Lord Ayyappa and has undertaken this spiritual journey to the hill shrine several times in the past.
