Belthangady : In a heart-warming incident, a pregnant woman from Belthangady gave birth to a baby boy inside an ambulance while being rushed to a hospital in Mangaluru early Monday morning. Lilavati, a resident of Sudemugeru under the Belthangady Town Panchayat limits, was initially admitted to the Belthangady Taluk Hospital for delivery. However, after a medical evaluation, doctors advised that she be shifted to Lady Goschen Hospital in Mangaluru for further care. Following these instructions, she was placed in an emergency vehicle accompanied by two nursing staff members.
As the ambulance approached Farangipete in Bantwal Taluk, Lilavati began experiencing intense labor pains. Acting swiftly and professionally, the two nurses on board, Sister Kumuda and Sister Soumya S., managed to conduct the delivery successfully within the moving vehicle. Both the mother and the newborn boy are reported to be in stable and healthy condition.
The timely intervention and presence of mind shown by the nursing staff, along with the quick driving of the ambulance driver, Dinesh Gowda, ensured that the mother and child reached Lady Goschen Hospital in the shortest possible time. Their dedicated efforts and coordination during this critical situation have earned widespread appreciation and praise from the general public.
