Bantwal : Excise officials have successfully apprehended a man who was allegedly selling ganja near the railway track close to B.C. Road, which falls under the Bantwal jurisdiction. The arrested individual has been identified as Santosh Sonkar, aged 28.
During the operation, officials seized a significant quantity of contraband from the accused. The total weight of the seized ganja was 6.590 kg. The material was meticulously packed into 1,173 separate plastic sachets, indicating a methodical approach to distribution.
Following his arrest, Santosh Sonkar was produced before the court and has been remanded to judicial custody.
The successful operation was carried out under the directions of the joint commissioner of the Mangaluru excise division and the guidance of the deputy commissioner of excise and the Bantwal sub-divisional excise deputy superintendent. The team involved included Bantwal range excise inspector Lakshman Shivanagi and excise staff members Prakash, Basavaraj, and Srinivas.
