Mangaluru : The Youth Red Cross Society Unit of Mangala College of Allied Health Sciences, in collaboration with the NSS and NCC units, successfully organized a voluntary blood donation camp at the college campus on April 7, 2026. The event was held in association with the Mangala Blood Centre (Storage Centre), Mangaluru. Dr. J.N. Bhat, the Blood Bank Officer, addressed the gathering and motivated the students by highlighting the critical significance of blood donation in saving lives. In a commendable gesture that set a leadership example, Dr. Ganapathi P, Chairman, and Dr. Anitha G. Bhat, Vice Chairman of Mangala Group of Educational Institutions, were the very first donors to contribute during the inaugural ceremony.
A significant highlight of the day’s program was the official launch of the Mangala Blood Centre website. This new digital platform is designed to bridge the gap between donors and those in need, aiming to reach a wider audience, spread awareness, and streamline the mission of life-saving medical support. The launch was celebrated as a milestone in the institution’s commitment to community welfare and health services.
The event was graced by several prominent academic leaders, including Dean Prof. Prathijna Suhasini G.R., Prof. Subramanya Nayak, Dr. Bharath K.H., and Prof. Geethalaxmi I.P. Also in attendance were YRCS unit officers Mrs. Vijetha Sheena and Mrs. Sharanya S. Amin, NSS officer Mr. Mithun Venugopal A., Associate NCC Officer Lt. Sakshi Shetty, and Mr. Nagabhushan from the IRCS Blood Centre, Mangaluru. The spirit of altruism was evident throughout the day as approximately 81 donors, including students and staff, voluntarily stepped forward to contribute to this noble cause.
