Kundapur : A man has hacked his wife to death at Hosamutta in Hiliyana village of Brahmavar taluk on the night of June 19. It is learnt, the accused committed the act out of anger over the excessive mobile phone usage of his wife.
The deceased is Rekha (27) of Hosamutt. Police have arrested the accused husband Ganesh Poojary (42) of Kolambe village. Ganesh was a painter by profession and had married Rekha eight years ago. The couple has two children. Rekha worked in a petrol bunk.
It is learnt, Ganesh often picked up quarrel with Rekha over the issue of mobile phone usage. Following a complaint earlier, Police had summoned Ganesh and had made him sign a bond.
Late night on Thursday, he had again picked up a quarrel with his wife and then hacked her with a scythe killing her on the spot.
After committing the crime, Ganesh fled the scene. A police team led by Kundapura Circle Inspector Jayaram Gowda and Shankaranarayana Sub-Inspector Naseer Hussain successfully traced him down and took him into custody.
A case has been registered at the Shankaranarayana police station, and further investigation is underway.
