Mangaluru : Canara Bank celebrated the 79th Independence Day, reflecting on the country’s rich heritage and reaffirming its commitment to nation-building and development with a grand celebration at its Circle Office in Mangaluru.
Under its impactful CSR Program named as “Canara Bank Dr. Ambedkar Vidya Jyothi Scholarship”, Canara Bank supported meritorious underprivileged SC/ST girl students to 45,786+ girl students spanning across 7600+ schools in India by providing a total scholarship of 1824.68 Lakhs for their education in PAN INDIA level.
The initiative aims to empower the nation’s young minds and provide scholarships to meritorious SC/ST girl students from underprivileged backgrounds to help them in pursuing academic excellence. This year, the Bank will facilitate scholarship distribution across 26 Circle Offices, 177 Regional Offices, and over 7,660 branches throughout India, ensuring wide outreach.
Apart from the scholarship scheme, the bank also facilitated village adoption initiative and construction of toilets, sanitation facilities for girl students in rural schools under its CSR Program.
The event was graced in the presence of Chief Guest, Dr. B. S. Hemalatha, Deputy Director, Social Welfare Department, Dakshina Kannada District and Sri Manjunath B Singai, General Manager, Circle office, Mangaluru along with other staff members have awarded Scholarship, under “Canara Bank’s Dr.Ambedkar Vidya Jyothi scheme”, to meritorious SC/ST girl students of various schools coming under Mangalore region.
