Mangaluru : The Department of CSE (AI & ML) of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangaluru in association with the SHINE Foundation under the GENESIS Scheme, successfully hosted the AI & Quantum Symposium – BHARAT SHAKTI: Catalysing Innovation for an Aspirational Bharat on 10th December 2025. The symposium brought together distinguished experts in Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Science, and emerging technologies to provide students with forward-looking insights into India’s technological future.
The event commenced with the welcome address by Dr. Pushpalatha K., Head of the Department, followed by the presidential Address by Dr.S.S. Injaganeri, Principal, Sahyadri College who emphasized the importance of technological curiosity, innovation, and active student involvement in shaping India’s rapidly evolving tech landscape.
Lighting the lamp by Sahyadri AI & ML Student along with Prof. P. C. Deshmukh, Quantum Scientist at IIT Madras and IIT Tirupati, and Advisor at Bharat WHYTEC, Shri Madhav Bissa, Director of Artificial Intelligence & Data Sciences at nasscom.ai, Prof. Udaya Birje Raghunath, Cofounder of ThinkStreet Technologies, Dr. S.S. Injaganeri, Principal and Dr. Pushpalatha K., Head of the Department where presence in the inaugural programme.
Prof. Udaya Birje Raghunath, Cofounder of ThinkStreet Technologies and Professor of Practice at the Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies, delivered an inspiring session focusing on the development of indigenous technologies to strengthen Aatma Nirbhar Bharat. He highlighted the potential for students to contribute to making Mangaluru a growing technology hub and shared five principles of authentic leadership, motivating students to lead with clarity, purpose, and integrity.
Shri Madhav Bissa, Director of Artificial Intelligence & Data Sciences at nasscom.ai, engaged the audience with an interactive session on intelligent systems and agentic AI. He encouraged students to build future-ready skills and understand the transformative impact of AI on India’s technological growth.
Prof. P. C. Deshmukh, Quantum Scientist at IIT Madras and IIT Tirupati, and Advisor at Bharat WHYTEC, offered a compelling perspective on the future of quantum technology and its potential to revolutionize global computing. He also emphasized the importance of quantum encryption in creating secure and resilient digital infrastructures, providing students with valuable insights into emerging research possibilities.
The symposium concluded with the resource persons felicitating the Principal on behalf of Sahyadri, acknowledging the institution’s significant contributions to innovation and technology through its commitment to fostering a strong ecosystem for research and development. The symposium was coordinated by Dr. Sadhana Rai, Prof. Shruthi Vishwajeeth, and Prof. Sowmya Kulal.
