Puttur : Chief Minister Siddaramaiah issued a stern warning against those who instigate social conflict, stating that people who provoke disputes in the name of caste and religion never send their own children to participate in riots. Instead, they exploit the children of the poor and the innocent for their agendas. He stressed that his government has successfully curbed these communal incidents in the district by appointing efficient officials..
Emphasis on Social Harmony and Co-existence
Speaking at the “Ashoka Jana-Mana 2025” event in Puttur by the Rai Estate Education and Charitable Trust, the CM highlighted that for an egalitarian society to thrive, the wealthy must share with the needy, aligning with the principles of Kayaka and Dasoha. He called for tolerance and co-existence, insisting that Karnataka must remain a “garden of peace” for all communities. He warned that any state or district’s development is contingent upon communal harmony, and stated that cases would be filed against those who disrupt it or spread false news.
State Economy and Guarantee Schemes
Siddaramaiah strongly defended his administration’s finances, refuting claims that the guarantee schemes have bankrupted the state. He asserted that Karnataka now ranks first in per capita income following the implementation of the Shakti scheme. While acknowledging the ₹1 lakh crore spent on these schemes, he maintained that the government is financially sound and will continue the schemes, challenging critics by pointing to the ₹2,500 crore allocation for the Puttur constituency.
Medical College and Infrastructure Commitment
The Chief Minister confirmed a significant development for the region: the new Dakshina Kannada Medical College, previously announced in the budget, will be built in Puttur. This reaffirms the government’s commitment to constructing medical colleges and super-specialty hospitals across all districts.
Criticism of Central Government on GST
The CM criticized the Central Government, stating that changes to the GST regime are causing a substantial ₹15,000 crore loss to Karnataka. He accused the ruling party of political posturing regarding tax reductions.
Compensation Announcement
In a separate announcement, he declared a compensation of ₹5 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the family of a person who tragically died from a bee sting in the district.
