Mangaluru : Inaugurating the ’37th National Road Safety Month’ at the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Mangaluru on Monday, Senior Civil Judge and Member Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, ‘Jaibunnisa’, emphasized that strict adherence to traffic regulations is the only way to prevent road accidents. The program was organized through the joint collaboration of the District Administration, District Legal Services Authority, Transport Department, and the Police Department.
Addressing the gathering, the Judge noted the alarming rise in fatalities due to road accidents across the state. She urged motorists to always remember the well-being of their ‘families’ who depend on them before engaging in risky driving. She highlighted that following safety protocols is not just a legal obligation but a vital tool for ‘life protection’.
Judge Jaibunnisa further pointed out that accidents are frequently caused by ‘overspeeding’, ‘drunken driving’, and general recklessness. She stressed the urgent need to create awareness among the youth and school-college students who often lack sufficient knowledge of traffic laws.
The event was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner for Transport and Senior RTO, ‘Muragendra Basavaraja Shiroalkar’. Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic), ‘Najma Farooqi’, was also present as a guest. The program commenced with a welcome speech by Office Superintendent Rashmi.
