Mangaluru : A shocking and bizarre incident has been reported where a 69-year-old man, who was officially declared dead by doctors at a hospital in Derlakatte, woke up and began moving just as his family was preparing for his final rites.
The Incident Details
The man, identified as Raghunath Gatty (69), was admitted to Yenepoya Medical College in Derlakatte on October 16. On the evening of October 19, doctors formally declared him deceased.
As the family decided to take the body home the following morning, the hospital staff placed Mr. Gatty’s body in the mortuary for the night.
The next day, his body was transported to his native place, Kanchikatte in Kumbla. The family, along with relatives and neighbours, completed all arrangements for the funeral. As they were about to place the body on the funeral pyre for cremation, everyone present was stunned: the ‘deceased’ man began to move his head and legs.
Realising he was alive, the shocked but relieved family members immediately rushed Raghunath Gatty to a hospital in Kasargod.
The incredible event—a man surviving a night in the mortuary after being declared dead—has raised serious questions about the medical declaration of death and is being called a ‘miracle’ by many.
