Mangaluru : The Government of India has officially reconstituted the Coastal Zone Management Authority for Karnataka, inducting prominent experts to oversee the state’s ecological regulations. Dr. Sarathi Manjappa, the Director of Research at Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangaluru, has been appointed as a key member of this prestigious expert committee. The committee, which plays a vital role in coastal governance, is chaired by the Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Environment, Forest, and Ecology, Government of Karnataka.
Distinguished Career in Environmental Governance
Dr. Manjappa is a veteran in the field of environmental management and regulatory affairs. His expertise is backed by years of high-level service, including a significant tenure as a member of the National Coastal Zone Management Authority between 2007 and 2010. Furthermore, he has been a pillar of the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) since 2001, serving as both Member and Chairman of its Technical Advisory Committee. His influence in policy-making was further highlighted in 2025, when he served on the Selection Committee responsible for appointing the Chairman of the KSPCB.
