Mangaluru : A terrifying incident unfolded on an interior road near St. Aloysius College in Bavutagudda, Mangaluru, on Monday afternoon when a massive tree uprooted and collapsed directly onto a moving car amid severe rain and gusts of wind. Despite the vehicle sustaining extensive damage, the driver experienced a miraculous escape, emerging completely unhurt from the perilous situation.
The heavy downpour accompanied by strong winds caused the giant tree to suddenly give way without warning. In addition to crushing the rear section of the moving vehicle, several large branches crashed onto an adjacent canteen building, resulting in structural damage to the premises. Fortunately, the driver was the sole occupant inside the vehicle at the time, and because the tree predominantly struck the rear side, he managed to survive without a single scratch.
Upon receiving urgent alerts regarding the mishap, personnel from the Pandeshwar Fire Station alongside teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) rushed to the spot to launch immediate rescue and clearance operations. The emergency teams worked swiftly to cut down and remove the massive tree, restoring smooth vehicular movement on the blocked road. Furthermore, officials and staff from the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) and MESCOM visited the site to evaluate the structural and electrical damage, taking prompt measures to normalize the situation.
