Mangaluru : A 75-year-old man was saved from jumping from the Pavanje bridge in Mulky on Monday, thanks to timely action by the 112 emergency response support system (ERSS) personnel of the city police.
Police said a family member of Vishwanath Shetty, a resident of Mannagudda, called the Barke police to say that Mr. Shetty had not returned after leaving the house on Monday morning stating that he was going to Kudroli temple. The Barke police passed the information to ERSS, which was relayed to ERSS vehicles patrolling across the city.
The ERSS patrol vehicle in Mulky got information about a person moving close to the Pavanje bridge. Head constables Yogish and Kishore Kumar, and constable Madhukar rushed to the bridge, and saved Mr. Shetty from jumping from the bridge.
On inquiry, Mr. Shetty said that he was unhappy with a skin ailment. The police called his family members and sent him back home.
