Puttur : Dr. Oliver Gladson Palanna (84), former Professor and Head of the Department of Chemistry at St. Philomena College, Puttur, passed away in Bangalore on Thursday, August 7, 2025, due to age-related causes. He is survived by his wife, Prema Sarojini Palanna; daughter, Sarita Soans; sons, Sudhir and Sudeep; and eight grandchildren. He also leaves behind a brother Roland Palanna and sister Evelyn.
Dr. Palanna served for 33 years at St. Philomena College before retiring. He continued his academic career in Bangalore, serving as Professor and Head of the Department of Chemistry at AMC Engineering College, East West College of Engineering, and RNS Institute of Technology for another decade. He was also the author of several textbooks in Chemistry.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 3:30 p.m. at the Indian Christian Cemetery (Gate 1), Hosur Road, Bangalore.
