Government increases artists' monthly allowance by Rs 500 per month

Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has granted the long-standing demand of artists and increased the monthly allowance of artists. More than 12,000 artists above the age of 60 were receiving a monthly allowance of Rs 2,000 per month. Now, the Kannada and Culture Department has increased the monthly allowance of artists and also released a grant.

Earlier, the monthly allowance of artists was Rs 2,000, which has been increased to Rs 2,500, for which the Kannada and Culture Department has released 32.94 crore. Originally, the association’s demand was that artists should be given Rs 5,000 as monthly allowance. Now, only Rs 500 has been increased.
