NITK Surathkal Undergraduates Likith M and Anushka Mishra Secure Prestigious OPJEMS Scholarship 2025–26

Mangaluru : The National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal, has announced that two of its undergraduate students, Mr. Likith M and Ms. Anushka Mishra, have been selected for the prestigious OP Jindal Engineering & Management Scholarship (OPJEMS) 2025–26. Out of a highly competitive national pool, these students have emerged among the finest young minds in the country, bringing immense pride to their institution.

The OPJEMS is recognized as one of India’s premier merit-based scholarship programmes, established by the OP Jindal Group to identify and support exceptional talent from the country’s leading national institutions, including the IITs, NITs, and IIMs. Covering both engineering and management disciplines, this scholarship honours students who possess not only outstanding academic credentials but also display strong leadership skills, entrepreneurial thinking, and a dedication to societal development, making it a true hallmark of all-round excellence.

At NITK Surathkal, the selection process begins with nominating the top three rank holders from each of the four undergraduate years across specific core disciplines, including Civil, Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics, and Metallurgical Engineering. These candidates join a highly competitive national pool of over 1,500 nominees from top-tier institutions. To secure the scholarship, shortlisted students must clear a rigorous multi-stage evaluation that includes an aptitude assessment, the creation of business proposals, and a final personal interview with senior leaders of the OP Jindal Group, who judge them on academic merit, communication skills, leadership potential, and social awareness. Ultimately, only the top 100 students across the country are awarded this distinction.

For the academic year 2025–26, both Mr. Likith M and Ms. Anushka Mishra from NITK Surathkal achieved this honor, with each receiving a cash award of ₹80,000. In addition to the financial support, the recipients gain entry into the elite nationwide OPJEMS Scholars Network, linking them with high-achieving peers from across India. The scholarship program also provides valuable mentorship from senior industry experts, direct interaction with the leadership team of the OP Jindal Group, and exclusive access to various innovation and industrial platforms designed to groom the next generation of leaders.
