Mangaluru : The Mangaluru City Police have successfully apprehended a notorious interstate criminal, Abdul Rauf alias Meese Rauf (48), who had been evading court trials for several years despite multiple non-bailable warrants and proclamation orders. A resident of Uppala in Kasaragod, Kerala, Rauf is allegedly involved in 25 criminal cases across Mangaluru and Kerala.
Proclaimed Offender Evading Justice: Rauf was a wanted man in several serious crimes, including a conspiracy to commit robbery at the Kavoor Police Station under the Arms Act and five separate theft cases at the Konaje Police Station recorded in 2020. While he faced 19 cases in various stations of Kasaragod district such as Manjeshwar, Kumbla, and Vidyanagar, he also had six active cases in Mangaluru City. Even as recently as 2024, a fresh case was registered against him at the Manjeshwar Police Station under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The Successful Police Operation: Acting on specific intelligence, a special team led by Assistant Commissioner of Police (North Sub-division) Sreekanth K. conducted a strategic operation and arrested the accused on December 16.
