Karkala : MLA V. Sunil Kumar has announced that the state government has granted administrative approval for the reconstruction of three critical bridges within the Karkala assembly constituency. A total budget of ₹4.50 crore has been sanctioned for these projects, with each bridge allocated an equal share of ₹1.50 crore. These infrastructure upgrades are aimed at renovating aging structures situated along major district roads to ensure safer and more efficient transportation for the local population.
The sanctioned projects address long-standing demands from the residents of rural Karkala. The reconstruction works include a bridge at Parapu on the Karkala-Nakre-Ranganapalke major district road under the Kukkundoor Gram Panchayat limits, another bridge near the Renjala Gram Panchayat on the Renjala-Nellikaru road, and a significant development project near the Sri Mrityunjaya Swamy Temple in Bola village. These bridges serve as vital links for commuters and are essential for the socio-economic connectivity of these interior regions.
The funding was secured following a formal request by the MLA to the state government and the concerned ministry, emphasizing the urgent need for special grants to improve vehicle safety and public transit. According to a statement from the MLA’s People’s Service Office, all departmental formalities will be expedited to ensure that construction begins as soon as possible. This initiative is expected to significantly ease travel difficulties and provide a long-term solution to the infrastructure challenges faced by the rural communities in Karkala.
