Kasaragod: A Kasaragod resident was shot dead in Saudi Arabia. The deceased has been identified as Basheer (41), a native of Kasaragod.
The incident took place in Bisha, Asir province. An unknown group shot Basheer while he was cleaning his vehicle at his place of stay. The group attacked the Kasaragod native after reaching in a vehicle. Basheer, who has been working in Saudi Arabia for 13 years, had come there on a house driver visa.
The incident took place on Saturday night. It is reported that while he was washing his own vehicle near his place of stay, a group of assailants arrived in another vehicle and opened fire. When his fellow residents heard the noise and came to check, they found Basheer lying in a pool of blood inside the vehicle. Basheer was taken to the hospital by an Egyptian citizen who was nearby. He died on the way to the hospital.
A car is seen coming and stopping in the CCTV footage. Some people saw Basheer buying food from a nearby souk and going to his residence shortly before the incident. The body is kept at the King Abdullah Hospital morgue in Bisha. Hamza Kannur, President of Bisha KMCC and member of the Jeddah Indian Consulate Welfare Committee, is on the scene to complete the post-mortem legal procedures. Baheer’s Father is Asainar Muhammad. Mother: Mariyumma Muhammad. Wife: Nasrin Begum. Children: Mariyum Hala, Muhammad Bilal.
He was an ICF member. The police have started an investigation into the incident. Social activists Abdul Aziz Pathiparamban and Mujeeb Saqafi are taking care of the legal proceedings. Further details of the incident have not been released.
