Kaup : The sea has become highly turbulent due to the impact of the recent cyclonic storm and the continuous strong winds and rainfall experienced over the last few days. This severe activity has led to reports of significant sea erosion near Mattu Beach, which is situated within the jurisdiction of the Kote Gram Panchayat.
Already, several parts of the land have been completely claimed by the sea, and there is now a serious fear that coconut trees in the area might also collapse and be swept away by the waves.
In response to this grave situation, Kaup MLA Gurme Suresh Shetty visited the sea erosion-affected area on Monday to conduct a personal inspection and assess the extent of the damage.
The MLA promptly contacted officials from the Ports and Fisheries Department, giving clear instructions to initiate urgent, emergency work immediately to mitigate the ongoing erosion. Furthermore, he assured the locals that he would engage in discussions with the relevant minister to work towards a permanent solution for the recurring problem.
Those present during the inspection included Kotegram Panchayat Vice President Yogeesh, Gram Panchayat members Ratnakar Kotian and Nagaraj Mendon, along with Harshit and Ganesh Mattu from the Shakti Kendra, and several local residents.
