
Bantwal : A man allegedly murdered his wife following a domestic dispute and later died by suicideat at Bantwal rural police station limits.
Timmappa Rama Moolya (52) reportedly had a quarrel with his wife Jayanti (45) over a minor issue. The altercation escalated, during which he allegedly assaulted her and strangled her to death.
Timmappa is believed to have taken his own life by hanging himself near the kitchen area.
The incident took place in Badagundi, Navoor village, between 11 pm on June 18 and 8 am on June 19, according to police sources.
The couple had been married for 15 years but had no children until now. Jayanti was currently pregnant, and her baby shower ceremony had been scheduled for July 2.
Two separate cases have been registered at Bantwal rural police station. One case (Crime No. 72/2025 under Section 103 of the BNS) was filed based on a complaint lodged by Jayanti’s younger sister Sujatha, a resident of Farangipete.
The second case (UDR No. 25/2025 under Section 194 of the BNSS) was registered based on a complaint filed by Timmappa’s elder brother Vishwanath, a resident of Sajipamooda, Bantwal.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
