Mangaluru : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially expelled Jagannivasa Rao, a prominent leader from Puttur, following a controversial case involving his son, Krishna J. Rao. The son is accused of cheating a young woman under the pretext of marriage. The decision to expel Rao comes after he reportedly failed to uphold the commitments he made to the party leadership regarding the resolution of the matter.
Providing clarification on the disciplinary action, BJP District President Satish Kumpala stated that Jagannivasa Rao had previously assured the party that he would ensure his son marries the victim if the DNA test proved paternity. Based on this promise, the party had initially issued a notice and kept him away from active duties. However, despite the DNA report confirming Krishna J. Rao as the biological father of the child, the family has refused to accept the victim and the baby, leading to his permanent expulsion from the party.
The situation has escalated as mediation efforts have completely collapsed. K.P. Nanjundi, President of the Akhila Karnataka Vishwakarma Mahasabha, addressed a press conference at the Mangaluru Press Club, revealing that the accused’s family had put forth unacceptable and stringent conditions for a settlement. He emphasized that since the DNA evidence is now clear and the father continues to deny responsibility, the legal battle will be intensified. The BJP has also reaffirmed its stance, stating it will support the victim’s fight for justice until a logical legal conclusion is reached.
