Mangaluru, Karnataka, 08 September 2025: Mangaluru International Airport Limited (MgIAL) reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to security preparedness at Mangaluru International Airport (IXE), with the inauguration of a suite of new facilities for the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) team. The facilities include the customised training ground for the Quick Response Team (QRT), the Kendriya Police Kalyan Bhandar (KPKB) and additional kennels for CISF’s K9 squad.
While the QRT training ground and the dog kennels play a direct role in enhancing the physical prowess of the CISF personnel and provide a better environment for the canines to rest, the KPKB adds a new welfare dimension to the CISF staff by providing them items of daily use at subsidised rates. These enhancements, developed in coordination with the Airport Security Group (ASG) of the CISF, are designed to elevate both the operational efficiency of security personnel and thereby improve the overall experience of passengers transiting through the airport.
Mr Jose Mohan, Inspector-General of Police, Airport Sector (APS) – 2, CISF inaugurated the facilities. During the inauguration, Mr. Mohan witnessed various security drills – a combination of raw muscle power, memory and endurance – presented by the QRT team. The K9 squad showcased their training, reassuring the gathering that the two Belgian Malinois and the two Labradors with the ASG unit, pack both speed and keen sense of smell in thwarting potential security threats.
Senior officials from the airport and the ASG unit of CISF attended the inauguration, underscoring the collaborative spirit that drives such initiatives. Mr Jose Mohan commended the efforts of all stakeholders in realising the security vision and reaffirmed the commitment of the APS-2 to support infrastructure and initiatives that enhances both public safety and service delivery.
Mangaluru International Airport continues to set benchmarks in passenger-centric innovation and security preparedness, reinforcing its position as major travel point for the region and beyond.
