Mangaluru : Successful Conclusion of the 9th Mangaluru Kambala The 9th edition of the Mangaluru Kambala, themed “New Year – New Kind,” successfully concluded at the Rama-Lakshmana track in Goldfinch City, Bangra Kulur, under the leadership of MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta. This year’s event was not just a traditional buffalo race but a multifaceted cultural festival that celebrated the identity of Tulu Nadu while integrating modern social themes and national pride.
Honoring the ‘Back to Ooru’ Vision Aligned with Capt. Chowta’s ‘Back to Ooru’ initiative, the event served as a platform to honor nine successful entrepreneurs who returned to their homeland to establish businesses and provide local employment. These achievers were felicitated by BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra and other dignitaries, marking a significant moment in encouraging the local diaspora to contribute to their roots.
Vande Mataram Booth and Nationalistic Zeal A major highlight was the ‘Vande Mataram Booth,’ established to celebrate the 150th year of the national song. Over 1,000 visitors, including children, youth, and even Kambala racers, recorded the song using a karaoke system and received digital certificates. This unique initiative, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for patriotism, filled the traditional sports venue with a vibrant sense of national pride.
Inclusivity and Environmental Awareness Demonstrating deep social empathy, Capt. Chowta invited senior citizens from various old age homes in Dakshina Kannada to witness the grandeur of Kambala. The MP personally escorted the elders to the tracks, ensuring they experienced the festivities firsthand. Additionally, the event promoted environmental conservation by distributing over 200 saplings under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.
Creative Competitions and Gratitude The festival was made even more colorful with creative competitions, including AI-themed art, photography, reels making for social media enthusiasts, and a drawing competition that saw participation from over 100 individuals. Expressing his gratitude, Capt. Brijesh Chowta thanked the committee and the public for their support, noting that the success of this 9th edition has set a strong foundation for a even more grand 10th-year celebration.
