Mangaluru : The Karnataka Lokayukta police successfully trapped three officials attached to the Assistant Director of Land Records (ADLR) offices in Ullal and Mangaluru taluk on Wednesday. The officials were caught red-handed while allegedly accepting a total bribe amount of ₹30,000 from an outsourced employee.
According to a press release from the Karnataka Lokayukta, Mangaluru division, the complainant is an outsourced worker at the UPOR office in Mangaluru. The officials had demanded bribes for two specific administrative actions: preparing the complainant’s pending salary bill and issuing an official order allowing him to continue his service on an outsourced basis.
The officials involved and the amounts they demanded were detailed by the Lokayukta. Krishnamurthy, the Surveyor at the ADLR Office in Ullal, had initially demanded ₹50,000. B.K. Raju, the Assistant Director of Land Records for Mangaluru Taluk, had allegedly sought ₹10,000, and S. Dhanashekar, the Survey Supervisor at the same office, also demanded ₹10,000.
On Wednesday, November 26, the Lokayukta police executed the operation. Krishnamurthy was caught red-handed accepting ₹20,000. B.K. Raju and S. Dhanashekar were simultaneously trapped while receiving ₹5,000 each.
All three officials have been taken into custody, and the investigation is currently underway. The operation was carried out under the guidance of Kumarchandra, Superintendent of Police (in-charge), Karnataka Lokayukta, Mangaluru division.
