Manipal: A major fire erupted and was followed by the explosion of two gas cylinders at a private restaurant located next to the RSB Hall in Manipal on Thursday evening. The incident was reportedly caused by a short circuit. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
Damage Assessment and Impact of Explosion
The fire, which originated in the Delhi Dhaba restaurant, quickly spread to an adjacent shop, causing significant damage. The force of the explosion was substantial, resulting in:
Damage to a car that was parked near the restaurant.
Structural damage to a neighboring hotel.
Emergency Response and Official Confirmation
Fire and emergency services personnel quickly arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control, successfully preventing the fire from spreading to other nearby buildings. Udupi SP Hariram Shankar confirmed the cause and inspected the site, assuring the public that no foul play was suspected.
“The incident was clearly caused by a short circuit inside the Delhi Dhaba restaurant. Both the Fire Department and the police have inspected the site. There is no suspicion. I am giving this clarification so that no rumors are spread. Nobody was injured,” he stated.
