Mangaluru : District-in-Charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao has written a letter to the Central Government requesting the commencement of direct flights for the Haj pilgrimage from Mangaluru, which would greatly benefit the pilgrims from the coastal districts.
In a letter addressed to the Union Minister of Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, the Minister highlighted that considering the Mangaluru International Airport as a ‘Haj Embarkation Point’ would allow the commencement of direct flight services for the pilgrimage. This, he stated, would be highly beneficial for the people residing in the coastal region.
The District-in-Charge Minister made this appeal to the Centre based on a request submitted by former MLA K.S. Mohammed Masood.
