Mangaluru : The government has sanctioned Rs 10 crore for the construction of a taluk stadium near the Benjanapadavu Government High School in Ammunje village of Bantwal taluk, and Legislative Council member Manjunath Bhandari has instructed the concerned officials to issue appropriate directions to release it immediately.
A total of 5.25 acres of land in survey numbers 167/A3, 167/1M and 167/182 near the Benjanapadavu Government High School was previously sanctioned Rs 10 crore during the tenure of Ramanath Rai as the Minister for the development of a playground. However, the work did not start due to non-release of the sanctioned grant.
This is causing a serious setback to the sports and physical training activities of the students at the taluk level. In this context, if the in-principle approval of the Rs. 10.00 crore grant is released quickly by the Finance Department, the development works of the playground can be started immediately.
Therefore, in the interest of the sportspersons and students of the Benjanapada area, Manjunath Bhandari has instructed the relevant department officials to issue appropriate directions to release the grant.
